RECOMMENDED USE:  CLASS A - FX-WF™ Wild Fire Retardant Coating  our most powerful fire protection coating.  FX-WF™ Wild Fire Coating can be used on many types of porous or non-porous materials. Application may be accomplished by either brush, roller, or spray  methods. The coverage rate should be 150-350 square feet per gallon, depending upon the results desired. This product provides  the highest level of fire protection due to the formation of an extremely thick insulating barrier when exposed to fire. Therefore,  FX-WF™ Wild Fire Retardant Coating can be used to create "fire barrier" or "firewall" systems. In fact, once the FX-WF™ Wild Fire Retardant Coating is activated by the heat of a fire, the coating can expand up to 100 times its dry film thickness.  Some of the uses are: Wood (raw or painted), Steel, Aluminum, Plastic, Foam Materials, etc.

FOREST FIRE PROTECTIVE COATING:    FX-WF™  Wild Fire Protective Coating is a non-permanent version of the FX-100® Fire Protective Coating .   This is the same technology that is used in the Housewrap™ Fire Barrier Product (which is not yet available in full-scale production), but is simpler to apply.  The effectiveness of this method of protection is similar to Housewrap™ Fire Barrier Product  because the coating “swells up” nearly 100 times in thickness when the heat of a fire approaches, therefore protecting and insulating the structure from the fire.  The FX-WF™ Wild Fire Protective Coating will stick to almost any construction material, including glass.  However, it is advised that glass be covered with plywood before spraying the structure for better protection.

FX-WF™ Wild Fire Coating is simply spray-applied with an airless paint sprayer over the surface of the entire structure or object to be protected.  The spread rate is approximately 200 square feet per gallon.  In an average home of approximately 1500 square feet (living area), there is usually about 4,000-5,000 square feet of surface area on the exterior (including the roof).  This means that 25 gallons of FX-WF™ Wild Fire Coating would probably be enough to completely coat the entire home. If there is time you can apply a second coat for even greater security.

FX-WF™ Wild Fire Coating will dry to a “tacky” finish in a few hours, for full effect.  However, in a severe situation, FX-WF™ Wild Fire Coating can be coated in the path of an immediate threat, and, though wet, will still provide similar protection due to the drying effect that occurs as the heat of the oncoming fire approaches.  FURTHER, if there is little time, the “primary” exposures (the sides facing the threat) can be quickly sprayed in a matter of minutes.

This product and these procedures will significantly reduce the temperatures at the surface of a structure that is exposed to a wildfire, thereby greatly increasing the chances the structure will survive.

ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS:   This product complies with U.S. Federal Regulations concerning the use of lead in paint AND hydrocarbon emissions
