Flame Seal
Products, Inc. and Songgo-Ritty Flooring Co. Make Breakthroughs in
Joint Effort for Class A Floors and Firewall Rating for Plywood
Engineered Floors

Flame Seal and Songgo-Ritty Flooring Company
of Canada (a division of
Songgo-Ritty Lumber Products of Canada, Inc.) have been working
together for over a year developing the next generation of flooring
products. These joint efforts have resulted in the development of
formulations and treatment processes for Class A rated hardwood
flooring with UV coatings, and firewall rated plywood. When the two are
combined, using this new plywood as the sub-floor, a 30-minute firewall
rating has been achieved for the entire floor system, with an upper
limit of 45 minutes. Mr. Harry Phon of Songgo-Ritty will incorporate
this system in their Engineered Flooring Division. The performance of
these products is such that a treated section of plywood only 1/2"
thick has survived for 1 1/2 hours in "burn through" firewall testing
at Flame Seal's fire testing laboratory.
The two companies are finalizing plans to
complete third party testing
at Intertek Laboratories in San Antonio, Texas within a month, after
which Songgo- Ritty plans to present these new products to the market
through the media and trade shows.
