RELEASE 68
(Released by BUSINESS
WIRE:)
October 2, 2008NOTICE
TO SHAREHOLDERS AND CLIENTS: Flame Seal’s
recovery from IKE is almost
complete. Product shipments continued,
facility expansion is on schedule, and Sales grew in spite of this
tragic
event.
CURRENT NEWS
ITEM :
Hurricane
IKE hit Flame Seal hard, but the
Company’s President expressed great pride in its Disaster Recovery
Plan, which
allowed the Company to continue operating, remotely at first, by
cellular phone
network and off-site computers, then via multiple generators, and in
some
cases, manual back-up manufacturing procedures.
From
the President: “Many of our stockholders
have expressed concern over the well
being of our personnel as well as the business, and I am happy to
report that
everyone here survived without harm, and the business will recover and
be in
even better shape than before the storm. Most
of us have damages to our homes to deal
with. My wife and I had a tornado hit our
house,
destroying one room, the fences, and parts of the roof.
But, it could have been much worse than it
was, so we are thankful. When repairs
are complete, everything will be fine with us all.
Amazingly, the business also was struck a
glancing blow by a
tornado, which destroyed Overhead doors and an interior wall where our
Electric
Power Distribution Panels were mounted. Yet,
we managed to maintain client
communications, kept them supplied
with products, continued support for Craig Keyser and SPI’s marketing
and sales
work, as well as continued facility expansion. I
am extremely proud of our team and our DRP
because, through these
difficult weeks, we have actually seen sales increase, even though we
were
without power from the day IKE hit, until this Monday.
During those two weeks, we direct-shipped
parts of a truckload we were in the middle of producing for SPI to
their
clients, shipped a half truckload to a major polyurethane manufacturer,
produced and shipped a full truckload of Leather Seal to our
new Distributor in New Jersey, completed
production and shipped a major order (9 pallets) of 400 fire jackets to
Fiberglass Systems for China, and more… We
also hired two more production personnel.
“On a
different note, I just returned from
joining Dan Helton and Mike Cork in San Antonio for a Polyurethane
Conference
that was attended by almost every major player in the industry. In a number of meetings I witnessed the
great work SPI is doing promoting our new Thermal Barrier product for
Polyurethane foam. I also heard first
hand that many in the industry still cannot believe that anyone has
passed
these fire tests. This was the first
major conference since we formed the SPI alliance, where this could be
discussed ‘face-to-face’ with decision makers throughout the industry. I heard several simply state that if the
product is that good, they are in…
“Even
though this was the #1 PUF annual
conference, SPI had a booth in a smaller conference in Denver two weeks
earlier
that featured ‘Flame Seal-TB’. They had
the highest attendance in the show.
“I
returned here yesterday afternoon to tell the
staff that from what I witnessed, we must brace ourselves for one heck
of a
ride in the coming months, because the growth we have experienced in
the last
few weeks was BEFORE these decision makers were 100% convinced that
what we
have is real. Now, post conference,
that is about to change. SPI says they are ramping up marketing yet
again, in
response to these conferences.
“So,
all in
all, even though we have been
through very trying times of late, including the economic problems in
the
current news, we at Flame Seal are very fortunate to be involved in
such a
growth market, which is due to the fact that, as I have said before,
our new product
allows big manufacturers to save money, and their clients to save
energy… both
of which are primary
keys to the current economic
climate. I, for one am extremely
thankful for this.
“Bottom line to
all our shareholders… we not only
survived, but we are
flourishing, and with more and more truckload clients on our project
board, I
am going to be so bold as to say that our momentum feels unstoppable…
and by
that I mean we have reached what is often referred to as….critical mass. More soon. (And I
am sorry I did not get news out every
couple weeks as promised,
but as you can see… we truly had our hands full.)”
