PRESS RELEASE # 10: (Released Via Business Wire) May 25, 2001 “FLAME SEAL’S FX-100® PRODUCT MEETS INTERNATIONAL APPROVAL FOR USE ON MEDICAL EQUIPMENT” The fire resistance tests performed by Minntec of Minneapolis (see news release of 9-8-2000), using Flame Seal’s FX-100® product on plastic, has recently received additional approvals for use on plastic medical equipment. In addition to the original test noted above, Minntec has now conducted fire tests using Flame Seal’s FX-100 coating on a molded plastic section of a specific medical device. The results were well received by the industry. Several articles have recently been written and published in a number of trade periodicals, resulting in numerous inquiries from around the world, confirming the high level of need for this higher level of fire resistance for plastics. A thin film of Flame Seal’s FX-100® coating allows plastic components of medical equipment to meet strict fire resistance requirements, which have been heretofore problematic for medical equipment manufacturers. A key factor for the medical industry is that, besides the superior performance the product offers, FX-100® is a water-based, non-toxic, environmentally friendly product. Thus, Flame Seal’s products appear to be a natural fit for the sensitive medical environment.
