Houston, Jan. 7 2004 - In May / June of 2003, a shipment of 318 fire protection jackets for fiberglass flanges was delivered to Smith Fibercast for its project on the Matterhorn offshore oil drilling platform in the Gulf of Mexico (the largest platform of its type in the world).  Smith Fibercast, an innovative manufacturer of light-weight fiberglass products for the Petrochemical market, has chosen Flame Seal’s FBS®-J fire jackets for use with their fiberglass flanges to provide required fire resistance.  Flame Seal has been informed that the installation of all 318 jackets was completed late last year, with all parties impressed with the results.  This high profile project should accelerate the growth of this market for Smith Fibercast, and, therefore, for Flame Seal.  Flame Seal’s®  FBS® Jackets are a tested component that will be provided with each flange sold to this market.
