SEAL™ CONCENTRATE FIRE RETARDANT
DESCRIPTION:
Leather Seal ™ Fire
Retardant is a
non-toxic water based fire retardant designed for use on
leather upholstery. Since its introduction,
Leather Seal ™ has gained acceptance in
the industry because of its high quality, ease of application,
and low cost. This product contains no VOC’s and does not
cause linear shrinkage. Real time testing has proven
Leather Seal ™ does not cause discoloration upon
application or after time. It has also been proven by our
customers that the product does not affect the cohesion
between leather and adhesives.

Recommended Use:
Interior-Leather Seal ™ Fire Retardant is a
spray applied product designed to be applied to the unfinished
side of the leather. Spray at approximately 100-150
square feet per gallon, then dry.
Consult a Flame Seal Representative for Commerical
Applications.
Environmental
Regulations:
This
product complies with U.S. Federal Regulations concerning the
use of lead in paint and hydrocarbon emissions.
| SUGGESTED APPLICATION METHODS
FOR LEATHER SEAL™ FIRE
RETARDANT: |
The following methods have been
reported by some of our customers. We are providing this
information for your reference to help you design a method
that is specific to your particular manufacturing process,
choice of specific dyes and tanning chemicals.
(1) By Spraying: Spray on the
back side of the finished leather at a rate of one gallon per
100 - 150 square feet. (Dilute Concentrate 1:1
with water.)
(2) Commercial

Fire Retardant Suggested Application - Applicator must test
finished product.
General Description:
Leather Seal ™Concentrate is a Char Forming penetrating
Fire Retardant. A Carbon Char is formed between the fire and
the Leather reducing the effect of the fire, heat and
smoke
Leather Seal ™Concentrate can be applied in various stages
of Leather production. The key factor is that the product
penetrates the Leather fibers.
The product can be applied in the via Spray Application,
via addition during Milling and in the Retan process
Spray
Application:
Crust or Finished
Leathers- Flesh Side Application Only- 20 grams/ sq ft. 1
or 2 applications depending upon fire retardant requirements
Pile the crust (grain to Grain)
8 Hour lay time
minimum – cover with plastic
Suggested Post Application
Processing
Soft Leathers
-Mill for 3 hours at 35C /
95F – closed doors
-Mill for 3 hours at 40C / 104F – open
screen
-Condition at 20C / 68 F (Hang Dry)
Full or
Corrected Grain Crust – Firm Temper
- Condition at 20C
/ 68 F (Hang Dry)
- Stake as needed
- Finished as
needed
Finished Leather -Mill or stake as
needed.
Test to required standard. Repeat application if
necessary.

following the table below (Divide calculated amount into 5

PHYSICIAN.
3. IN CASE
OF EYE CONTACT, FLUSH THOROUGHLY WITH WATER FOR 15
MINUTES. CALL A
PHYSICIAN.
4. USE WITH
ADEQUATE
VENTILATION.
5. MAY BE
IRRITATING TO SENSITIVE SKIN.
6. AFTER
USING, WASH HANDS THOROUGHLY.

PRIOR TO
USE.

actual application of the products. Users must determine
