Re: Project No. 14770-105723
ASTM E 119-98 Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials

Dear Mr. Kiser:

This letter represents an interim report of the results from your FBS® “ Single Layered” System for Wall Structures test performed on October 13, 1999.

The test assembly consisted of Insulated Panel Systems’ TecFoam ™ IPP Partition Panels (3 “thick with a rigid modified isocyanurate core and white polyester 26 GA. Steel facers on both sides) installed in a 10¢ x 10¢masonry lined frame and covered with Flame Seal Products¢ FBS®--SL system. Both the foam core panels and the FBS®-SL system were produced without the benefit of third party inspection. Upon completion of the installation, the test assembly was mounted against the laboratory’s vertical full scale test furnace, the burners were fired, and the ASTM E 119-98 time/temperature curve was followed for a period of 120 minutes. The lab ambient temperature at the start of the test was 89°F and the relative humidity was 42%. After 118 minutes of fire exposure, a thermocouple on the cold side of the assembly exceeded the maximum allowable temperature of 414°F.

A test assembly of identical construction was previously tested at the Omega Point Laboratories, Inc. on July 21, 1999. That test was terminated after 79 minutes to be utilized as a hose stream retest sample. After the 79 minute fire exposure, the wall was exposed to the standard hose stream test for a period of 150 seconds at a pressure of 90 psi from 20 feet way from the exposed surface. The water washed all of the FBS-SL off the exposed side of the wall, but did not penetrate foam wall panels, which remained firmly in place.

In conclusion , the foam core wall panel system protected by Flame Seal Products, Inc. FBS®” SINGLE LAYERED” FOR WALL STRUCTURES tested as described in this letter, successfully met the conditions of acceptance as outlined in ASTM E 119-98 Fire Tests of Building construction and Materials for a fire endurance rating of 118 minutes.

Thank you for your continued interest in our fire and flammability testing services.
If you require anything else with regard to this project, don’t hesitate to call. We appreciate business and look forward to working with you again soon.
