Introduction
FX-WF™ is a single component, non-permanent, ready to use, fire protective coating. It is designed for application to structures in the immediate path of a wild fire. It can be applied up to several days, depending upon conditions before the arrival of a fire. On exposure to fire, FX-WF™ produces thick intumescent foam, which acts as a heat and fire barrier, protecting the underlying structure. The coating “swells up” nearly 100 times in thickness when the heat of a fire approaches, therefore protecting and insulating the structure from the fire. By using FX-WF™ you are greatly increasing the chances the structure will survive.

Application Instructions
FX-WF™ is applied to the structure with medium to heavy-duty spray equipment. A thick layer of the fire retardant coating should be applied directly to the surface of the structure. Time permitting windows should be boarded up with plywood before the application of the coating. The coverage rate should be 150 ft2 to 350 ft2 per gallon. The product is tacky and will remain in this state until exposed to fire or removed by power wash and/or warm soapy water after the danger of wild fire has passed. Once the product is activated FX-WF™ will expand up to 100 times or more the coating thickness, creating a heat and barrier that protects the structure during the rapid exposure to wild fires. The product is composed of non-toxic materials and is environmentally biodegradable. The product may be used on most types of surfaces

WHAT IS FX-WF™ ?

HOW DOES IT WORK?
On exposure to fire, FX-WF™ produces extremely thick intumescent foam, which acts as a heat and fire barrier, protecting the underlying structure.
HOW IS IT APPLIED?
FX-WF™ is normally applied using medium to heavy-duty spray equipment due to the urgency of covering the structure before the fire arrives. But, it may also be applied by brush or roller if sufficient time is available.
WHEN SHOULD FX-WF™ BE APPLIED?
FX-WF™ should be applied to a structure that is under immediate threat of being engulfed by a wildfire. It can be applied up to several days, maybe longer, depending upon conditions before the arrival of a fire. It is not advised to put it on too early because the product is not designed to be permanent or even long term. It will wash of if exposed to rain and may sag and run off in high humidity and/or prolonged warm temperatures. It is also damaged by freezing. Even in extreme emergency you could still coat the side towards the oncoming fire and get some protection. FX-WF™ will still work well even when wet.
WHAT PREPARATIONS SHOULD I MAKE BEFORE APPLYING TO A HOME?
If time permits, board the windows, particularly in the likely direction of the fire front. If time does not permit, treat the glass directly. Treat everything that time permits, beginning with the likely fire front and work from there.
HOW DO I REMOVE THE COATING AFTER THE FIRE?
Wash the FX-WF™ off of your house with a pressure washer. Warm to hot water is preferable, if possible. If exposed to extreme fire conditions, some scraping and additional clean up may be required.
WHAT BECOMES OF THE WASHED OFF MATERIAL?
Place what is feasible to pick up in the trash or dispose of in the local land-fill. The residuals will degrade into the soil. FX-WF™ is composed of non-toxic materials and is environmentally degradable.
